On March 1, 2014, the 8th Church of the Nazarene in the Nicaragua Central District conducted the youth leadership conference “Flight Plan.” More than 70 leaders (youth presidents and local leaders) attended the event.
The Regional NYI Coordinator, Rev. Milton Gay, shared about teamwork, leadership development, youth ministry strategic planning, how to involve adults in youth ministry, discipleship and evangelism; among other topics included in his recent book “Flight Plan”. Also, Rev. Luis Flores shared about supporting the adolescents and young people. Odily Diaz shared about the characteristics of a youth leader.
The young people listened enthusiastically, learned and shared together in the plenary sessions, exercises and time of socialization.
Rev. Milton Gay commented that one of the most important aspects of this conference was the involvement of the District Superintendent (DS) Rev. Maria Ponce who believes and supports young leadership. Also, many pastors are becoming aware of the need for youth training and care. Recently, young people have joined the District Council, eight of them graduated this year in Youth Ministry.
“We congratulate the leadership and organization of Martha Martinez, the new president and the NYI district council member who organized the whole event. We encourage all youth leaders to attend the training organized by their districts and national presidents in CA-4.”
