As part of an event organized by the Nazarene Youth, more than 430 people including children, youth and adults from 25 churches in the Verapaz North district in Guatemala came together on September 15th for a day of creative evangelism in Coban, Guatemala.
As people celebrated the national holidays in Guatemala, the youth positioned themselves strategically at eight points throughout Coban to share the message of hope and salvation in creative ways such as dramatizations, face painting, balloon twisting and other activities.
At the end of the event, those who participated, including pastors, gathered at the Nazarene Bible Institute in Coban to sing the birthday song in celebration of the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Global NYI on September 19th. They shared cake and had a special time of prayer for the Global NYI.
Also, in celebration of the country’s independence day, they sang the national anthem and then, each local NYI lit a torch and carried it as they ran through the streets until they each arrived at their respective churches. There they continued with a service of thanksgiving.
The event was led by Mr Nery Sep and pastor Mauricio Coc, District NYI Vice President.
