Work & Witness in the Dominican Republic was blessed to receive a team from Houston 1st Church of the Nazarene from June 3-11, 2017. This group worked on the construction of the dining hall/kitchen for the child development center in El Factor, located in the northeast Nazarene district. This space will serve hundreds of children in the community of El Factor. Together with local workers and volunteers, the team worked hard on the foundation and forming columns for the project.
In addition to construction work, the team was involved in several other activities in the community as well, including children’s Bible school activities, door-to-door evangelism, and a baseball game with some of the men from El Factor. The women in the group preached and shared testimonies at a special dinner for single mothers in the community. It was a very encouraging and transformative evening for everyone involved. A few pastors from the Houston church were able to share and encourage the pastors of the district at a pastor’s meeting as well.
DR Work & Witness is very thankful for our brothers and sisters from Houston who have worked so hard to support the vision of the El Factor project to be able to provide a great place to care for the children of the community. We believe that this project will continue to transform the lives of not only the children of El Factor, but entire families as well. We are thankful for the love they showed, the encouragement they shared, and the relationships that were built during their time in DR. Glory to God!
