Beverly Brown was raised in Perry, Oklahoma and grew up attending Perry 1st Church of the Nazarene. She attended Oklahoma State University and graduated in 2013 with a degree in Secondary Math Education. Beverly first became interested in Work and Witness when her home church began taking trips, often to the Dominican Republic. Her first Work and Witness trip was in 2008 to the DR, and after that God continued opening the doors to serve. Beverly spent the summers of 2011 and 2012 in the DR, and it was in 2012 that she felt God’s call to full-time missions. After graduating from Oklahoma State, Beverly moved to the DR for a six-month term, followed by a fourteen-month term as a volunteer with the Work and Witness ministry. While serving in the DR, she began online classes from Nazarene Theological Seminary in August 2014, and in August 2015 moved to Kansas City to continue classes as an in-resident student, working toward a Master’s in Intercultural Studies. In January 2016, Beverly moved back to the Dominican Republic once again, this time as interim coordinator of the Work and Witness ministry. As of October 1, 2016, Beverly will be moving to the DR to serve full time as the Work and Witness Coordinator for the Dominican Republic.
Beverly and the Dominican host team will serve the local churches in the Dominican Republic through providing support and resources for their growing ministries. God has given each of them a passion to serve, and their prayer is that DR Work and Witness glorifies God while serving those in need. Work and Witness is a tool to support not only construction projects, but a way to serve and partner with our brothers and sisters in the DR and to inspire churches in the DR to continue to reach people for Christ all over the world.
