For 6 years, every September 27, the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic pays tribute to the Bible, during the raising of the flag of the institution. The Dominican Bible Society (SBD) is the special guest institution at the event.
Lic. Carmen Checo de Acosta, a member of San Geronimo Church of the Nazarene and member of the District Advisory Board, who is also the DAB General Secretary, gave a speech in which she expressed gratitude for the blessing that the country has two laws that promote the Bible; one that declares September 27 as National Day of the Bible, the other states that in schools of primary and secondary level, after the flag-raising ceremony and the National Anthem, a portion or biblical text is read. She gave thanks for the beautiful gesture of honoring the Word of God and take it as a source of value for the instruction of all Dominicans.
