The Mesoamerica Region of the Church of the Nazarene, along with Mesoamerica Regional Director Dr. Carlos Sáenz, welcomes missionaries AJ and Chelsea Fry and Michael and Jamie Askew.
The Frys will serve as the Work and Witness Coordinators in the Dominican Republic. They have been serving in the Dominican Republic in Work and Witness for two years, but now will transition to serving in the entire country. The Askews will serve as the Work and Witness Coordinators in Haiti beginning in August of this year.
AJ and Chelsea Fry: Chelsea grew up in Arkansas, USA, and AJ grew up in Kansas, USA. They met at MidAmerica Nazarene University, where AJ studied ministry and Chelsea studied business. After graduation they served in church planting, at a Nazarene Compassionate Ministry center, and in youth ministry. They were both recently ordained in the Florida District, which is their home district. Both recognize their call to cross-cultural ministry, and note that God has continued to confirm it in their marriage.
Two years ago they began serving in the Dominican Republic as Project Coordinators for the Center of Missionary Formation, where they hosted several Work and Witness teams.
AJ and Chelseas said, “As we start our new position as Work and Witness Coordinators for the Dominican Republic, we hope to encourage the local congregations to be bold in sharing the Good News with their own communities, see more churches birthed on all 5 districts, and raise up National leaders. We know the Lord is doing amazing things in the Dominican Republic already and we cannot wait to partner with the existing projects to see how to further the Kingdom of God more effectively.”
Michael and Jamie Askew: The Askews have four children: Kaitlynn, Kennidy, Kylierose y Kanaan. They recently completed 6.5 years of ministries as pastors at the Kirksville Church of the Nazarene in Kirksville, MO, USA. Prior to that they spent 2 years planting a church on the Island of Pohnpei in The Federated States Micronesia. Previous to Pohnpei they served as Children’s Pastors at the Macon Church of the Nazarene in Missouri.
They both received a missionary call early in life. “We are looking forward to ministering in Haiti as Work & Witness Coordinators,” the Askews said. “Work & Witness can be a life changing event and our desire is to help teams meet with God in powerful ways which transform their lives and make them more aware of God’s daily call to serve others.”
Please keep both families in your prayers in this time of transition.
