Update: Nicaragua Crisis
Wednesday, June 20, the Nicaragua Central District of the Church of the Nazarene made a beautiful gesture of love to 125 families in the communities of Ventarron and Monte Fresco in the Boaco Department of Nicaragua. District Superintendent Rev. Maria Antonia Ponce and some helpers made the delivery of food, clothing and a snack for the children.
The food is much-needed in these communities because blockades in the streets have prevented deliveries and caused food shortages.
Rev. Ponce said that the delivery was a great display of teamwork, and that people participated in different ways. Some donated food, others divided the donations into packages, and others made the delivery.
She said, “We want to express our deep gratitude to all of the churches who organized and held food drives, and we are also grateful for our regional Nazarene Compassionate Ministries for their friendship and help in these difficult times for us all.”
She added that it was difficult to make the delivery because the truck they were using broke down on the way, but that they saw the care of God because they were able to find another truck heading to their destination. Seeing the joy in the children and the love of the parents made it all worth it.
