From November 24th to December 1st, 2015, a W& W team from the Dominican Republic, with a group of the Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma, traveled to Haiti to serve the churches in two communities.
They visited a community 4 hours from Pentonville, where they replaced the church roof, which was made of a small pieces of a very worn canvas, its walls were formed of palm leaves and benches made of logs. However, this was not an obstacle for the pastor and congregation to follow the call to serve the Lord and their community.
The next day, after eight hours of travel to west side of the country, and despite having some mishaps, the group continued to a community where a school and Church of the Nazarene are located. They finished the construction of the sanctuary, painted and installed the roof.
The Church of the Nazarene does an incredible job with the education of children in this community. Children come to school perfectly clean and with a well-ironed uniform, (not to mention that in the community there is no electricity); they learn French, English and some speak Spanish, considering that their native language is Creole.
“We always believe that in the missionary trips we will help and give our time to others, but God really gives us more than we can offer, He fills our hearts, gives us joy when the children smile and strengthens our faith in each moment. God bless Haiti and continue doing His work through workers who work with so much love, even in places where no one would go.
Let this first missions W&W team from Dominican Republic be the impetus for more groups each year, not only to serve their country, but in other countries where there is need; contributing their time, money and letting themselves be used by the Lord to bless others.”
