From May 19-29, 2017, the Panama Central District received a group of 18 music students from Olivet University in the United States. Professors Neil and Cathy McMullian accompanied the team. They shared with great passion and love for their neighbors in nine communities: Samaria, Puente del Rey, Cabuyita, Paso Blanco, Tocumen, Pedregal, Progreso, Playa Chiquita and Río Abajo.
The team painted the church buildings at the Playa Chiquita and Rio Abajo Churches of the Nazarene. They visited schools in the same communities where they ministered through music, drama and songs. They also brought joy in the children’s hospital where both children and their parents heard the message of hope and salvation.
At the end of their time in Panama, the team joined youth from the district to evangelize in the Cinta Costera, the busy park along the bay. They shared music, songs, dramas and the word of God. Joel Bermúdez from the Panama communications ministry who was also a part of the evangelism group said, “It was sensational to see the passion and love for their neighbor that this team had. The district is enormously grateful for their great, beautiful work. We will always be praying for them.”
