On February 22 and 23, 2014, a Training of the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries District Coordinators was held in the city of San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico; Mexico South Field.

Coordinators form the East, Olmeca District, Oaxaca, Oaxaca – Norponiente, Southern, Sierra, South Border and South Pacific Districts listened and learned about the following topics: Stories of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries in the Church of the Nazarene, Ecology and Compassion, Health and Compassion, Missions and Compassion, Mexico Water of Unity, and Compassion as a Lifestyle.

The objectives of this training were:  integrate district and local committees of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries in the Field, promote compassion as a lifestyle in each Nazarene, as well as to conduct district NCM conferences between the months of May and October 2014.

The vision is that by the end of 2015, all of the Mexico South Field churches have a local Nazarene Compassionate Ministries structure, where God’s love and His Holy Spirit are the reason to serve, help and love their neighbor.

Dr. Helmer Juárez Moya, NCM CA-4 Field, (Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador), Dr. René Gilberto Rivas, National NCM Coordinator in Guatemala; Edi Aroldo Montejo Alvarado, Mexico South Field Coordinator; Maddai González Jiménez; Elder Sebastián Ovando García, National Director of Mexico Water of Unity, among others, were the trainers.

Brother Edi Montejo commented: “John Wesley said the phrase “The gospel of Christ knows no religion other than a social religion, no holiness than social holiness”, the Church of the Nazarene was born to be a community of believers who cared, acted and helped the needy and hungry.

From Mexico South, I invite brethren with the call to serve and love others to join the compassion teams so we can create a network that allows us to impact communities and places where the need is present. The major goal is that each Nazarene could be the hands and feet of Jesus, that people can see in us the heart of the Good Samaritan. God bless you. ”
