In December 2018, the Yahweh Shalom Church of the Nazarene in Dominguito, Arecibo, hosted the graduation and ordination services for the Puerto Rico West District.
General Superintendent Dr. David Graves participated in both services. His wife, Sharon, accompanied him.
Rev. Blanca D. Campos, District Theological Education Coordinator organized the graduation. Four students completed the Course of Study requirements and were recognized in the graduation ceremony: María Yolanda Matías Rivera (Las Canelas Church), Lyvian Lynette Rodríguez (El Madrigal Church—Ponce), Eluid Egberto Vélez (El Madrigal Church—Ponce), and Eddie Pérez Suárez (Aguada Church).
Following the graduation was the ordination service. Dr. Graves preached the Word of the Lord and officiated the ordination ceremony for three new elders. They were Eddie Pérez, pastor of the Aguada Church; Marta González, pastor of the Dominguito Church in Arecibo, and Héctor Corraliza, pastor of the Cabo Rojo Church. District Superintendent Rev. Ramon A. Sierra served as the translator during the service.
“It was a special time of consecration, confirmation of vows and commitment where we felt the presence of God as a Nazarene family in Puerto Rico. We left motivated to continue working together, extending the kingdom of God, and sharing the message of holiness. In that way we are completing our mission and making real our theme for this year: ‘Ebenezer – We Consecrate Ourselves to Continue the Mission!’” Rev. Sierra said.
