A ministry team of about 40 people, which included many young people, a visiting ministry team and local Nazarenes, ministered to over 300 children and parents in the Trinidad and Tobago District through a day of great sportsmanship and conversations.
As a part of their effort to engage children and youth in missions, the District NMI of the Trinidad and Tobago District held a Play & Witness Mission on July 16, 2022 in the community of Oropune Gardens. The district Global Missions coordinators Deanedra Joseph and Cedrick Browne organized the day.
The event took the form of a football competition, with novelty races between each match. Each football match, which targeted a different age group, was held between a team from the Church of the Nazarene and the Oropune Gardens Police Youth Club.
Timmeon Spencer, Global Missions Coordinator for the Caribbean Field, shared the Word of God with all present. Participants distributed tracts and Bibles and shared the contact information and location of the Nazarene church with those who attended the event.
The event included drinks, food, snacks, entertainment, prizes and more, at no cost to the community, through the sponsorship of loving Nazarenes across the Trinidad and Tobago District.
The Oropune Church of the Nazarene, led by Pastor Fazim Gyan is committed to long-term follow up, and they are already seeing the effects. They held Vacation Bible School soon after the event and 300 children and youth attended. Some of those young people and their families have remained to fellowship at the church. They continued with a movie night and weekly visitation.
The church has gained a new, vital role in the community and the lives of residents are being transformed by the Word of God!
