During the months of May and June, the Mexico Gulf District Nazarene Missions International (NMI) held 4 children’s cross-cultural orientations for kids between the ages of 4 and 14. More than 100 children from the 4 zones of the district attended. The camp was intended to teach children about the missionary work of the Church of the Nazarene around the world and help them to discover the call to missions.
The children “visited” South Africa, Japan, Palestine and the Dominican Republic to learn more about each country. The district NMI president, Elizabeth Roa, along with NMI Council members Judith Galindo and Rebeca Ramirez were in charge of preparing this great adventure. Freya Galindo, who serves as a missionary in the Dominican Republic through the Genesis Initiative and Global Mission, also came to help. During the same weeks she was able to complete a portion of her missionary home assignment in the district.
Simultaneous to the event, district NMI leaders in each zone, specifically those who work with children, attended a workshop focused on how to instruct and involve children in missions using instructional material and other tools.
Various children said that they felt a call to missions during the activity. The event would not have been possible without the help of the local churches who hosted and helped with the various activities.
Glory to God because he continues to call children to missions. They are the church too!
