From April 3rd to the 5th, 2014; a NMI Conference was held in the South Mexico Field, in the city of Mérida, Yucatán. We had 490 participants from the 8 districts that make up this field, including NMI local leaders, pastors and superintendents. They were challenged to carry out missions in their districts.
This event is one of the Regional NMI strategies to reach local churches with training and challenge to God’s service. Rev. René Jiménez, Field Strategy Coordinator and Sister Maria Lucia Manuel, NMI Coordinator for that field, along with a team of District NMI Presidents and other field leaders, organized the event.
Dr. Nina Gunter, General Superintendent Emeritus of the Church of the Nazarene, shared the Word of God, through which they were challenged to continue serving God with passion for lost souls. Dr. Moody Gunter, Sister Nina’s husband, was also present at the event; he challenged them, in a devotional time, to be generous in supporting the missionary work of the Church of the Nazarene.
The speakers were: Ana Maria Crocker de Diaz, NMI Regional Coordinator in the Mesoamerica Region, Rev. Flavio Martinez, pastor in South Mexico District, Rev. Manuel Molina, Mexico Sierra District Superintendent, Josué Jimenez, District NYI Coordinator Mexico South Field and Ms. Mayra Dominguez, South Border Mexico District.
All 5 Mexican missionaries Freya Galindo, Zimri Jessica Delgado, Luz Lastenia Jimenez, Daniela González and René Gutiérrez, who were selected to serve in the GENESIS project, were commissioned during this event by Dr. Nina Gunter and present leaders to serve on the project.
“We thank God for the blessings and challenges received during this event and we encourage our leaders to move forward in God’s service.”
