The Church of the Nazarene in the Mesoamerica Region continues to work diligently to strengthen its presence in Curaçao. Since its establishment on the island in 2015, the church has grown to a congregation of 70 members, which was officially recognized in 2021.

On March 1, Salvadoran missionaries Deysi and Roger Lemus will travel to Curaçao to assume a dual role: serving as pastors and acting as trainers for the local church. “We ask for your prayers for our family,” said Roger Lemus. “Pray that God grants us grace and wisdom, and above all, a constant message of hope and the power of the gospel that transforms lives.”

On the same day, Mexican missionary René Gutiérrez will also depart for Curaçao, focusing on evangelism and community development. René has extensive experience serving God since childhood and has held various ministerial roles, including NYI, evangelism, and leadership development. Between 2014 and 2016, he served as a missionary with the Genesis project and has held positions as Missionary Mobilization coordinator and Training Center coordinator in the Mexico Area.

René Gutiérrez has asked us to join him in prayer for the following:

  • God’s guidance in his life to serve Him better.
  • Wisdom and vision for the ministry.
  • Grace in the places where he will be sent.
  • The people who will hear God’s word and experience transformation in their lives.

Additionally, the Caribbean Area Strategy Coordinator, Rev. Alphonso Porter, has requested prayer support for the following needs:

  • God’s wisdom to minister effectively to the multilingual population of Curaçao.
  • The Lord’s intervention in the process of purchasing a property for the church and that

God may will provide an appropriate place for services to be held.
This new chapter in the mission of the Church of the Nazarene in Curaçao represents a significant step toward spiritual and community growth on the island. The entire church is invited to join in prayer for these missionaries and the goals set for the advancement of the gospel in this region.
