The Guatemala North Verapaz District celebrated its 91st annual assembly at the end of February. One of the highlights of the assembly was presenting six new organized churches in the district.
The churches are: Peniel Church of the Nazarene, The Light Church of the Nazarene, Bethel Church of the Nazarene, The Good Sower Church of the Nazarene, Rivers of Living Water Church of the Nazarene, and Mount Moriah Church of the Nazarene.
Each new church was represented by their pastor and delegates who participated in the district assembly for the first time. Each pastor received a plaque as recognition and as a way to remember this special date. The district also recognized the mother churches of each of the new churches who worked for years with great passion to reach this point. District Superintendent Rev. Francisco Cho encouraged the churches to continue working to open new missions in the coming year.
District representatives also announced in the assembly a project that began in February to offer economic assistance to retired pastors. The retired pastors will receive a monthly offering to help with their personal expenses. Everyone at the assembly was invited to join the project. Rev. Cho has been working towards this project since he became superintendent in April 2017, and he thanked God for the chance to see the project come to fruition.
“The district is being strengthened by the grace of the Lord through the Holy Spirit, continuing with preaching Entire Sanctification as a key experience for service to the Lord. The glory is God’s!” said Rev. Cho, who was elected by the assembly to serve for four more years as superintendent.
