On July 9, the Church of the Nazarene (COTN) in Trinidad hosted over a thousand participants for the 2017 Nazarene Day at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima, Trinidad.
The event is a popular one intended to promote unity within and between churches as well as to provide a wholesome Christian event. Some of the activities included a parade of teams, tug of war, pastors’ walking race, 100 m dash with men’s, women’s and children’s categories, and an all day scavenger hunt.
The theme of the event was “Taking the Gospel Around the World,” so participants were grouped into four different teams representing 4 world areas: Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas.
The North Zone was the overall winner of the event, while the Tobago Zone won both the march pass and the tug-of-war. Dr. Peter Stroude, Pastor of the Santa Cruz Church of the Nazarene and Caribbean Nazarene College Dean of Postgraduate Studies, was the victor of the pastor’s walking race.
