From January 12th to the 20th 2016, a work and witness team from the Osseo Church of the Nazarene in Minnesota, USA; visited the city of San Marcos de Colon, Choluteca in southern Honduras. They served the community and built a new parsonage. Brother Jason Courtney, Honduras Work and Witness Coordinator led this project.
Along with church members, the group went through the community visiting homes where they prayed for needs and invited them to watch the Jesus film, which was presented in the evening. In the afternoon, they visited Bella Vista community where they distributed food bags. There, the Jesus film was also presented and several people gave their lives to Jesus. New Testaments were given away and very soon, a preaching point will be started there.
Pastor “Raul Palacios said: the time our brothers spent with us was a blessing for our church; by their attitude they taught us many things that I would like to highlight:
- Their love for God’s work, they not only contributed their money for this project, but gave themselves as a living sacrifice to God …
- They left their comfort and set aside this time to come to Honduras without conditions and despite the language and culture barriers, they made an effort to adapt.
- The desire to share the gospel, it was beautiful to go house visiting together. It did not matter the nationality or language, this had an impact on the community. I rejoice to hear people’s comments and I’m sure that soon we will reap the fruits of this work”.
On Sunday January 17th, they praised the Lord together. Pastor Jim shared the word of God and encouraged them to work together to proclaim the gospel and bless those in need.
