More than 60 ministers and health professionals were part of the first edition of the “Compassion and Health, Serving Through Your Profession” Conference in Guatemala, organized by Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) in the North Central field of Mesoamerica.

From October 4-6 leaders of the 13 field districts received tools to respond to the issues and needs they have in their countries from a preventative perspective. Some of the topics were: caring for the health of ministers and pastors, mental health of the church, community health evangelism, oral health and prevention, and the importance of children’s ministry.

The topics were presented by Doctors Georgina Rivas, Helmer Juárez, René Rivas, Juan Díaz and by Toty Mendoza. The ministers presenting were Cesar Juárez, Rosario Xuc, David Campos, and Dámaris Kellogg.

Rev. David Campos, regional NCM coordinator, challenged participants to share the church’s resources generously with their communities.

“I think God for the districts’ participation. As a church we were challenged to see health in a comprehensive way,” said Damaris Kellogg, NCM coordinator of the North Central field of Mesoamerica. ”It is my prayer that everything learned can be reproduced and put into practice in our local churches as well as our communities.”
