Mesoamerica held the first counselors and psychologists gathering September 5 to 9, 2018. The event was coordinated by Irene and Miguel Garita, Mesoamerica Family Care Ministries coordinators. It took place at the Mesoamerica Central Field office building, where 15 people participated, representing the 5 fields in the Region.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide tools to develop a better quality of life for not only the church families, but also the families in their communities.
The participants, most of which have studied psychology, currently work in counseling in Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, Guatemala, Nicaragua, or the Northern, Central, or Southern Mexico.
During the meeting, they modeled a three-year program. They will also work on the development of family centers that will provide support in mental health and spiritual areas.
“What I liked about the group dynamics, was the commitment, union, camaraderie, and the joy of each of one of the members,” said Ms. Irene Jimenez, from the Mesoamerica Family Care Ministries.
