During the last week of July, a group of Work and Witness, comprised of 29 people from Greenwood, South Carolina, visited New Vision Church of the Nazarene in north Guatemala to bless them through various activities. These included repairs and painting of the sanctuary, a medical journey and activities with 60 children of “Pan Project”, a program that the church has, which consisted in provide academic reinforcement and lunch once a week. Activities included puppet, animated Bible classes and workshops for teachers and guardians of children in the program.
The 60 children in the program and their families received medical care, medication and vitamins for parasites and other specific medications for other needs.
The group also worked a day of Evangelism and a medical journey in the villages of San Miguel Morazan, Tiling, Chimaltenango, where they had fellowship with the children of the local school during one morning.
The total number of patients seen by physicians in the 4 days was 275.
Pastor Glen Link was thrilled with the work of the group and said that he expects this to be the first of many missionary trips from his church.
Guatemala NCM Coordinator, who has been the project coordinator, said: “I am excited that this group, on their first mission trip, thought of Guatemala. They did a good job, especially the evangelism to children, even with the language difficulty, because only three people in the group spoke Spanish. It was very helpful and a blessing because they were all very loving and committed to follow up the work in the church and the Pan Project ”
