The Jamaica West District had its first Children’s quizzing competitions on September 26. This was the highlight of their annual Sunday School (SDMI) Jubilee where the talents of the participants are on display, in the areas of song, poetry and exhortation of the Word of God.
There were 16 churches represented from 3 zones with a total of 59 participants. Each zone wore a different colour T shirt.
The event was the culmination of of 9 weeks of intensive training of quizzers and coaches on the respective zones which began about August 15. Judy Lucas from the Fowlerville Church of the Nazarene , Michigan , United States, was the official trainer.
The age of quizzers ranged fro 6 -12. They participated in the competition with much enthusiasm. One could see the excitement on the faces of the children throughout the event. At the end of the day, 3 quizzers received perfect scores. All the participants received medals – gold, silver and bronze. respectively.
This event was the first on the district and we are looking forward to see many more competitions of this nature as students and their parents engage in the diligent studying of the Word of God.
