The Nicaragua North District NYI held the first Audiovisual Seminar on Jan. 26. They held the event in Somoto, Madriz, and 35 people participated.
They focused on the following topics: How to reach a target group, radio and television editing, and working as a team in audiovisual communication. The speakers at the event were: Natanael Picavea, Church of the Nazarene missionary in charge of regional online radio; Kenneth Cajina, announcer and producer for Maranatha radio; Benjamin Espinoza, independent producer and associate for the Revista Nicaragua Salvaje (Wild Nicaragua magazine).
The participants were pastors and leaders who were just beginning or who already had radio or television programs with their local churches and were interested in improving the quality. Included in the group were journalists from the Somoto Municipal television channel, the owner/director of Channel 21, which is the Christian channel in the Somoto area, and a correspondent from a channel with national coverage.
In the evening they held a forum with the theme Means of Communications as Agents of Social Transformation. The speakers from the event participated as well as Erick Barrantes, director of the Somoto Municipal Channel.
At the close of the event the participants received certificates from the presenters.
