During the District Assembly in the Central District of Guatemala on March 27 and 28 of 2013, it was agreed that in November 2013 the district would take an offering to support the construction of the Nazarene Hospital “Mount Zion” (a project Dr. René Rivas is leading).
The vision for the “Mount Zion” Hospital is that Nazarenes would have a place where they could receive first class and affordable medical attention, especially the pastors and their families. Medical attention will also be extended to members of other denominations and to the general public, where patients can get medical attention in a wholly Christian environment. Medical attention can be extended to Nazarene brothers and sisters from the countries in the CA-4 Field of our Mesoamerica Region.
Since its beginning, the construction work has been supported and done by Work and Witness teams and by local volunteers.
Dr. René Rivas asks for your prayers for this project, especially right now for the Municipality to authorize the construction permit soon for building the third floor and for placing an elevator inside (which they have not yet authorized because of lack of space for parking).
This project gives Nazarenes in the Mesoamerica Region an alternative for serving in different ways: they can pray for the project and for the Holy Spirit’s direction for the leaders, they can consider involving their church in the construction work, support medical groups or donate funds for the construction, medical equipment or administrative expenses, or they can sponsor a pastoral family.

Dr. Rivas ended on this note, saying, “If we can dream it, we can do it, especially if we are in God’s hands and I think that God gave us this vision of having a hospital center where the Gospel is preached through the compassion work. This is a project in which all Nazarenes should be involved.”
