The Nicaragua North District leadership team held the first of five ministry trips planned for the different zones of the district from March 28 to March 31. The goal is to have a chance to worship the Lord together and also hold evaluation and training meetings.
The visiting leadership team is comprised of members of the District Advisory Board, and leaders from the Evangelism, Nazarene Youth International and Nazarene Missions International ministries. In the first zone visit, the team visited churches in the communities of Jinotega, Sabana Grande and Pantasma.
The visit includes worship time and evaluation with the local church boards to identify how the ministry has advanced in each church during the first three months of the year. The evaluation is centered on the gains the church has made, the difficulties they faced and proposed recommendations for overcoming identified weaknesses.
The visit also includes a training time for the leaders of the church boards using material from Rick Warren’s Leadership With A Purpose. The main themes are: the workmanship of a leader, the prayer of a leader, the plans of a leader, how does a leader motivate others, how does a leader face those who oppose him, and how does a leader resolve conflict and temptations. Thirty-one people attended the study.
One activity during the training time was to form small groups to discuss the responsibilities of a leader at a deeper level. The event ended with prayer and a meal.
The leadership team plans to use a similar approach in the remaining four zones of the district.
The next zone visit will be from April 22 to April 28, in which the leadership team plans to visit 7 churches, 7 missions and 14 pastors.
