On February 5th, 2016, the Costa Rica Central District Assembly was held in SENDAS, San Jose, Costa Rica, the General Superintendent in Jurisdiction, Rev. Jerry Porter and Regional Director, Dr. Carlos Saenz attended the assembly.
Delegates enjoyed a time of worship, followed by the message given by the General Superintendent. In a solemn moment, delegates from each church prayed for their pastors and the projections for their local church.
After 7 rounds of voting, the assembly elected Rev. Sirlene Bustos as district superintendent. Sirlene is the pastor of Los Angeles Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Bustos will take office in March.
On Sunday February 6th, the Costa Rica North District Assembly was held on the grounds of the Poas Church of the Nazarene. Rev. David Webb led this assembly. District Superintendent, Rev. Johnny Calvo, gave glory to God for another year of growth and God’s faithfulness. The north district is working through a plan to build a district center with the purpose to strengthen all the churches in the district. This year the north district made a contribution to WEF of more than $13,000; which is $ 3,700 more than last year’s contribution.
As part of the assembly, the Chicago Central (USA) NMI Council greeted the assembly via Skype. During October 2015, the Costa Rica North district sent a Work and Witness group to Chicago. They raised $10,000 to fund this project. Both districts have partnered in the Lord’s work in the United States and Costa Rica.
