A Maximum Mission was held in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico, from January 16th to the 20th 2015, as a result a mission site was inaugurated. NMI, Evangelism, NCM, Global Mission and SDMI Ministries together with their leader Rev. Joaquín Ocaña, East District Superintendent, and a group of 41 people from the Indiana District, USA, worked together. The installation of the missionary who will take the challenge to continue this work, Elder Xochi Sanchez, also took place.
The start of this mission is an answered prayer for the district new works planting project team. It was their goal to have 3 new missions in a year, the island being one of them. This was considered the most difficult since there were no local contacts in the island and the high cost of living in Cozumel, among other things.
An action plan of prayer and promotion that involved all district pastors was developed. For the glory of the Lord is reported that the mission is growing, people are finding Jesus and lives are being changed.
The Indiana district will return with a group of 75 to 80 people to serve in Cozumel and Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.
Superintendent Joaquin Ocaña said: “We see the hand of God working mightily and ask for your prayers for our Mexico East District, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, Pastor Xochi and her husband, Pastor Jairo Reyes and their sons Jair and Saday. General Superintendent Dr. Gustavo Croker visited the work in Cozumel and we had the opportunity to present to him the group of new converts in this new worksite. GOD IS GOOD!”
