Every year regional Nazarene Missions International (NMI) encourages congregations to join in 40 days of prayer leading up to a celebration on the day of Pentecost.
May 1 – June 9, NMI shared daily prayer requests to leaders by email and through social media to encourage them to join in prayer during this time. They also sought to encourage an evangelistic focus and to inspire them to hold a celebration on Pentecost Sunday.
This year they shared daily prayer requests focused on a weekly theme. The themes were: Worshiping God, Living in Fellowship, Being Like Jesus, Serving the Lord and Sharing My Faith.
Regional NMI Coordinator Ana María Crocker said that many districts in the region responded to the call to prayer and also to the special celebration on Pentecost. Many held special services with invited speakers in which they had focused prayer times, among other activities.
“We give thanks to God because these times of prayer unite us to also intercede for those places where the Word of God has not arrived yet and for the Nazarene family in general,” Crocker added.
