On Saturday, May 29th, the Iglesia del Nazareno Centro de Alabanza y Proclamación (Center of Praise and Proclamation Church of the Nazarene – CAP in Spanish) in Oaxaca celebrated the baptism of 80 people who were also received into full membership.
The baptism took place in the municipality of San Jacinto Amilpas, in the presence of more than 200 people who witnessed the public expression of the new brothers and sisters´ faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and their full intention of obedience in holiness and righteousness.
Before the ceremony, Pastor María de la Luz gave a talk to the group to prepare them for baptism. Elías Betanzos, head pastor and district superintendent, shared about the commitment of living a Christian life. He mentioned, “I commit to be a pastor you won’t be ashamed of; your commitment is to grow in your faith, put your lives in order, and be ready to love, forgive, and restore those people close to us.”
One of those baptized, Francisco Juárez Díaz, who is a taxi driver, said, “…I had a total change in myself and my family, I received the Holy Spirit, and it was so powerful that I started giving offering every Sunday. Each event has shown me how to battle the enemy. I created a group with other fellow taxi drivers, I gather them and speak about the miracle God has done and how he is the only one who can transform each of our lives.”
On Sunday, during one of the church services, the eighty were given their baptism certificates and were received as full members. “Now you are part of the home of all the families at CAP, Oaxaca,” said Elder Juan de Dios González.
