The Church of the Nazarene, Cristo La Roca, in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic is experiencing a revival, says its pastor Joán Paulino. Through its monthly retreats, the church is seeing an increase in new members.
Recently, the church held its second retreat of the year entitled “Humbled in His Presence”
and there was a special focus on women as part of the commemoration for International Women’s Day.
On the first Saturday of each month, the retreats are held under the direction of pastors Joán and Alexandra Paulino and an average of 60 persons are in attendance. Alexandra explains that the purpose of the retreats is to work towards entire sanctification.
In “Humbled in His Presence”, girls, adult and senior women, as well as some men came together to praise the Lord and listen to the message from His Word. The day’s program included a Bible study shared by Yuli Quiterio who spoke about the role of today’s woman in the home and their impact on the hearts of those around them.
Rev. Altagracia Nova de Bathermy also preached and spoke about the participation of women in the early church, highlighting how important it is for women today to play their part in the Kingdom of God.
“This congregation started with only two senior women three years ago and today we give glory to God because we are seeing a revival, especially among the women of this community,” said Pastor Paulino.
