On Aug. 4, The Word of Life Ministry, Civil Association, as a part of the First Church of the Nazarene, Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, celebrated 4 years of service to their community. They operate a community cafeteria where, Monday through Saturday, approximately 100 people come to eat, the majority of whom are senior citizens.
The cafeteria is on the church property and functions with the support of: SEDESOL (the Ministry of Social Development) of the Mexican federal government, other churches, non-profit organizations and individuals. Pastor Conrado of the Ciudad Juarez church, his family and other volunteers are those who regularly cook and serve in the cafeteria.
Eleven years ago, due to the social needs in the city, the church formed the civil association with the goal of contributing to the formation, development and strengthening of families. In 201L, they decided to open a cafeteria.
Recently they presented a project to the federal government to obtain help to open 5 guitar schools for children and youth in various parts of the city. The church also envisions opening a shelter for migrants in the future.
“With do it with pleasure, not because of obligation but rather because of love,”
said Pastor Conrado when he described the work that the church does through the civil association and the community cafeteria.
