On December 26, 2013, a group of leaders visited the Gavilan mission, from the Church of the Nazarene of Cuchey, one of the indigenous zones in the central district of Costa Rica, to present gifts to the underprivileged children. Approximately 35 children from the mission and the mother church, joyfully received the toys that were donated by organizations and members of the churches of the Central District as well as the district NYI.
The leaders that helped with the trip were: Leyla Ramirez, Evangelism Coordinator for the Central District of Costa Rica: Stephan Sickle, Work & Witness Coordinator for Costa Rica and Panama: Jorge Fuentes, District Evangelism collaborator and Gabriel Salazar of Mesoamerica Communications Ministry.
It is important to mention that this trip was originally planned for December 17-19; but, because of strong rains the trip was planned for another date. Pastor Leyla Ramirez lamented the death of a person that was who was swept away by the river on the days that the trip was originally planned and in turn gives thanks to God for the change of dates because they could see God’s care and guidance in this mission.
