On March 5th, 6th and 7th 2015, the Nicaragua North District celebrated its fifteenth Assembly and Conventions, which were held at the district center located in the city of Estelí.
One hundred and ten people, among delegates and ministers, enthusiastically attended this great celebration. Dr. Gustavo Crocker, in his capacity as General Superintendent in Jurisdiction, chaired the Assembly. He conveyed greetings from the Board of General Superintendents and shared a powerful message of the Word of God. He challenged us to move forward in our commitment to the Lord and His cause. After preaching, pastors and lay people turned to the altar, in the presence of God, to seek the fullness of the Holy Spirit and appropriate the promises of God.
Dr. Carlos Saenz, in his capacity as Regional Director of Mesoamerica, was also present. He greeted us and presented the General Superintendent. As a visitor, Brother Roger Lemus, from the North Central office, also accompanied them.
The Assembly agreed to grant five new district licenses to Pastors Pedro Viscay, Dina Castillo, Angel Morazán, Freddy Garcia and Manuel Salvador Martínez Matamoros. It also agreed to renew the license of 14 pastors.
It was reported that seven churches grew within the range of 6 to 52%, and 8 new congregations were planted. Pastors of these churches received awards from the Assembly. In education, it was reported the operation of 5 ETED (distance education) centers with 57 students, 21 taught courses and 10 professors. At the local level, pastors and district ministries imparted trainings to their leaders on the following topics: Mission, Vision and Core Values of the Church of the Nazarene, Covenant of Christian Character, Nazarene Identity, Children Violence and Sexual Abuse, Violence against Women, Act 779; among others.
As for media, the district has access to four radio stations and two local television channels where programs are transmitted such as: La Hora Nazarena, Orientations, La Voz Nazarena and Pastoral Counseling. It is worth mentioning the fact that the San Isidro Church of the Nazarene has its own means of radio communication, NAZARENO 97.7 FM STEREO.
The district received 6 Work and Witness teams from Ohio and Colorado, USA, who came to work on building a parsonage, two classrooms and three sanctuaries.
“We closed our Fifteenth District Assembly with recognitions and encouragement, a time of prayer, renewed commitment to continue working for the kingdom of God, and with a hearty lunch.”
