The Oaxaca District in Mexico held the “Building Healthy Families” Conference June 1-3 with the goal of strengthening the spiritual and emotional health of families. The speakers were Miguel and Irene Garita, who serve in the Family Care Ministry of the Mesoamerica Region.
Friday, June 1, they met in Huanacastal, Oaxaca. In the morning, 80 families, or about 170 people, attended. More families joined in the afternoon, and the numbers swelled to about 300 people. Fifty families came to the alter seeking the healing grace of God.
On Saturday, they held the conference in Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, and 70 families, or about 150 people, attended. Seven couples decided to receive the Lord as their Savior. Other couples recommitted their relationships to each other and to the Lord. Rev. Antonio Infante, pastor of the Salina Cruz Church of the Nazarene, coordinated the event.
On Sunday, the event was held in Chahuites, Oaxaca. In the morning 150 familes, or about 350 people, attended. Nine churches from the area participated. More than 55 families went to the altar seeking spiritual healing.
Rev. Aner R. Castro said, “In our district we want to be men and women filled with the Holy Spirit who impact the world with their lifestyle.” He added, “We give thanks to the Lord for each and every one of his blessings. We also thank Dr. Miguel and Irene Garita for bringing a necessary Word. And of course for our regional leader Dr. Carlos Saenz, for helping the Garitas be able to come to this district.”
