January 17-25, 2025, a transformative occasion took place at the Centro de Desarrollo Integral (CDI) Jireh of the Raxruhá Church of the Nazarene in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. A group from the Intermountain District, USA, joined forces with youth from various Guatemalan districts as part of a Máxima Misión, and worked diligently together to bless both the center and the community.

The team, led by Damaris Kellogg, coordinator of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries and Rosario (Charito) Xuc, coordinator of Integral Child Development both on the Norcentral Field, carried out a series of impactful activities. Approximately 100 children who were beneficiaries of the CDI program, and local community members received medical attention, medications, and vitamins, all tailored to their specific needs during the week.

Rosario Xuc had the privilege of praying individually with each child while presenting the message of salvation. These valuable spiritual encounters led several of them to profess their faith in Jesus, marking a significant spiritual harvest for the Kingdom.

Another part of the team began constructing a dual-purpose basketball court and soccer field to provide the children with an appropriate and safe space for physical activities. While waiting for medical checks, physical and spiritual activities were held with the goal of strengthening the spirit of community and commitment to faith.

Additionally, an innovative dental care program was implemented. Through songs, stories, and practical exercises, the children learned about the importance of oral hygiene, and each one received a dental care kit to continue these practices at home.

At the conclusion of the activities, a group of about 40 people mobilized to evangelize and visit 30 households, sharing the message of salvation in every visit. As a result of this commitment, 24 children and adults decided to commit their lives to Jesus during that week.

Damaris Kellogg highlighted that the coordinator of the CDI, Edgar Tut, and his team expressed their deep gratitude for the ministries of both groups and for the activities carried out to glorify the work of the Lord. “We give thanks to the Church of the Nazarene in  Raxruhá, to its pastor, Rev. Marcos Elías Chaman Maquín, and to the women of the “Hijas del Rey” ministry for their hospitality during this week. May God bless their work and may every boy and girl know that they are part of the kingdom of heaven,” Kellogg concluded.
