The Board of General Superintendents is inviting Nazarenes from around the world to A Celebration of Grace, a 24-hour global worship service on Sunday, 27 June 2021.
“We are excited to have the chance to connect as a global church family on this day when we would have been gathered together at the 30th General Assembly,” said General Superintendent Carla Sunberg. “These global gatherings are an important part of our identity as a denomination, and we are thankful we are able to fellowship together through the gift of technology.”
The hour-long service will focus on the new denominational discipleship initiative, Nazarene Discipleship: A Journey of Grace. Each general superintendent will share a message about God’s grace as persons are drawn into an ever-increasing relationship with God.
This second denomination-wide online service will also feature three multilingual worship songs recorded by Nazarene musicians and singers from around the world.
“Worship is a beautiful representation of our unity in the Body of Christ,” said General Superintendent Fili Chambo. “Even though we come from different cultures and speak different languages, we can all worship our Lord together through the gift of our talented worship leaders and the Spirit of Christ that unites us.”
The service will be broadcast in five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Korean. Churches and individuals will be able to join at the top of every hour beginning at 10 p.m. UTC on Saturday, 26 June 2021.
“We received many positive responses from the first virtual service, the Global Service of Thanks,” said General Superintendent David Busic. “Many said that the service helped our people feel connected as a global church. We look forward to how God will use this time to further unite us around our shared journey, from grace to grace to grace.”
