Its goes without saying, our most valuable resources is our human resources. And since this is the case for the Guyana: Berbice District, the question is how do we harness and utilize this resources for the glory of God and the Church of the Nazarene.
The answer to that question is continuous training and development of our people ; and that is what the District SDMI did. They planned and organized a Sunday School teachers and workers training Seminar held on the 30th June at the Berbice District center. Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) was invited to facilitate the training which saw the coming together of 45 person from almost all our churches for a time of education and instruction in the rudiments of teaching and working in the SDMI.Some of the main areas of the training included; Life Changing Growth in Sunday school, How to lead and disciple children and preparing effective lessons for Sunday School.
According to Min. Meena Bentick, the Coordinator and Vice Chairperson of the District SDMI, the training was very helpful since many of the participants were new teachers across the district. Participants noted that there is need for more training like this for leaders and teachers, since it was very helpful in their responsibility at the local church.
In addition to the teachers and workers, most of the Local SDMI Superintendents attended as well as some of the pastors who seized the opportunity for more training. The training which lasted five hours concluded with gifts of appreciation and a contribution of a Teaching package, inclusive of 7 Biblical lessons, visual aids and others materials given to each participating church.
The Guyana: Berbice District continues to make training and development a high priority because we believe the more equipped we are the greater our impact will be for the kingdom of God.
