Gateway Community Church of the Nazarene sent a Work and Witness team recently served in Costa Rica. The team arrived October 18 in the community of Pueblo Nuevo which is part of the city of Limón in Costa Rica. The Project was to help with the construction of a parsonage over the church kitchen area in the back of the existing church.
With the help of the Lord, the metal beams were set before the group returned to the US on October 25. Pastor Jairo Mendoza continues to work with this project with the support of the Costa Rica Central district. Lord willing, the Costa Rica Central District hopes to see this completed in the next 6 weeks.
One of the highlights for the team was a special evening prayer service. The community of Pueblo Nuevo has suffered with violence due to drugs, gang activity and unemployment. The church is actively praying for this community and longs to reach the youth and children that live there. Pastor Jairo and his wife Pastor Elba and their children are working with the expectation that Jesus Christ will be glorified in this community
