The Guatemala Verapaz North District officially organized the Monte Moriah Church of the Nazarene on May 19. There are 36 members, and their pastor is Miguel Pop. During the event the church also organized the following ministries: Nazarene Missions International, Nazarene Youth International, Sunday School and Discipleship Ministries and Evangelism.
The new church is located in the mountainous part of San Juan Chamelco. To arrive there, it is necessary to use a 4-wheel drive vehicle and then hike the remaining distance.
Rev. Macario Cuc, pastor of the mother church, will continue to work with two other mission-type churches with the goal of organizing them soon. He also plans to open a new preaching point in the Chicacnab community, which is on a nearby mountain.
District Superintendent Rev. Francisco H. Cho said, “We give thanks to God because the church is growing in this district. With the organization of new churches, the Kingdom of God is a reality.”
After the organization service, there was a time of fellowship in which the congregation ate and shared together as a demonstration of their rejoicing in the victory that God gives his Church.
