From March 9 to 12, a medical tour was held in Panama with the support of medical personnel from the Central Church of the Nazarene in Flint, MI, USA. The team served 400 people from the communities of Las Pavas, San Carlos and Vista Alegre. Even the staff of the hotel where the team stayed received their services.
The people received the services of general medicine, and a checkup of vital signs, blood pressure, temperature, height and weight. There was also an optometrist offering eye care. After a checkup, those who needed them were offered free prescription glasses. “When one lady put her glasses on, she happily pulled out her worn Bible and began to read it, which is why she wanted glasses,” said Joél Bermúdez of Panama Nazarene Communications.
The team also offered pharmacy services to dispense the medications prescribed by the doctors.
During this time, team members shared the gospel and prayed for every patient.
Panama Work and Witness extends its thanks to the Central Nazarene Church in Flint, Pastor Rob Prince, Dr. Jack Stoker, and the medical team, for their service to Panama and for their noble hearts in the service of God. “Thanks to NCM Panama and to all the volunteers from Panama for their support. God bless you.”
