The “Tree of Hopes” immigrant shelter in Anapra Ciudad Juárez, received a visit from 35 volunteers from the First Church of the Nazarene in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, on Saturday, January 18th. They shared a time of joy through games and creatively presented the message of salvation.
The visit was made possible in collaboration with the civil association Verbo de Vida* Ministries, whose objective to strengthen, protect, and support families, under the presidency of Mr. Conrado Monterrosa, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene of Ciudad Juárez.
During the visit there was a time of games and activities. The team presented choreographies and dramatizations with an evangelistic message. After handing out special hats for children and adults that were donated by the Jesus Film ministry, Pastor Conrado explained the meaning of the colors, inviting the people to give their life to the Lord. Some 40 people, children and adults, in the shelter heard the message of salvation, 35 of them gave their lives to the Lord, plus 10 young people who accompanied the team in this work of evangelism and compassion.
The team helped in the open air camps during the months of November and December, before authorities moved them into indoor shelters due to the cold weather season.
*Verbo de Vida Ministries is a civil association legally funded on July 2nd, 2017. For the past 5 and a half years, with the support of the federal government on Mexico, it has been operating a soup kitchen out of First Church. “We have prepared no fewer than 30 thousand meals and have served them to ten thousand people, older adults, immigrants, and people living on the street,” said Pastor Conrado.
