A traveling medical clinic in the Panama Central District attended to the needs of 626 people in four communities, April 29 – May 2. Nazarene Compassionate Ministries and Panama Work and Witness organized the event along with a group from the Flint Central Church of the Nazarene, Michigan, USA. Leaders from the district were also instrumental in coordinating the ministry event.
They began in the community of La Pita de Capira where there is a newly organized church under the leadership of Pastor Eusebio Bermúdez. They offered general medical care, vital sign reviews, optometric attention and pharmacy services. After receiving medical care, the people heard the message of the gospel. The team served 220 people in total.
Tuesday the team went to Cirito de Capira where there is another newly organized church. There they served 138 people through medical services and the message of the gospel.
On the third day, the team offered the same services to 138 police officers and community members at the police station in the Arraiján community.
On the last day, the Samaria Church of the Nazarene in San Miguelito opened its doors to host the event open to the community. The team served 130 people. Pastor Rolando Flores expressed his thanks to the team for their support for the community.
“It was marvelous to see how the Lord brought medicine for physical bodies and for souls in those communities, two of them with new churches, one soon to be a mission, and the last in a church that has been present for a long time,” said Joél Bermudez, Panama Communications.
Panama Work and Witness Coordinator Eliezel Soto added his thanks to the volunteers from the district and the group from Flint Central for their service to the communities.
