The Haiti Field for the Church of the Nazarene held a conference for pastors Nov. 5-8 at the Nazarene Seminary campus. Participants included 140 pastors from across the country and Jean Robert Maitre, who serves as president of the seminary. Field Strategy Coordinator Rev. Pierre Antoine Jacques organized the event.
The presenters were Dr. Roberto Hodgson, Intercultural Ministries Coordinator in USA / Canada; Dr. Brian Wilson, District Superintendent of the South Florida District; Dr. Dan Cupp, President of the Ministerial Studies Board of the South Florida District; and Dr. Pascal Permis, Haitian Ministries Coordinator in USA / Canada.
The presenters shared about the leadership model of Jesus and his principles to fulfill the mission that He entrusted to us. Everyone was encouraged to effectively copy His strategy to reach lost souls.
Dr. Brian Wilson said, “The conference was a great blessing. The presence of the Lord was present in every worship service and holiness sermon, and the instructional sessions on leadership principles had excellent content and were very well received. The FSC, Rev. Jacques and the president of the seminary, Dr. Maitre, were very kind hosts and created an excellent program and an atmosphere of optimism regarding the future of the Church of the Nazarene in Haiti. We are anticipating that in the coming years we will continue to see a great harvest of souls, a large number of new churches planted, and many new leaders developed for the service of the Kingdom of God. ”
Dr. Pascal commented, “I was excited to see the enthusiasm and exuberant worship and the ways the pastors expressed gratitude for the leadership materials presented to them. It was impressive to hear of pastors who travelled over 12 hours to attend the conference, crossing the mountains to reach public transportation. Many sacrificed greatly to attend. For many, it was the first national pastoral gathering they had been able to attend in many years.”
The pastors left the event grateful and blessed by their time together. We invite you to continue praying for Haiti, especially for those pastors and churches affected by natural disasters in recent years.
