Some 350 youth from the United States and Canada arrived to Guatemala as part of the ENCUENTRO 2018 event happening in the Mesoamerica Region happening June 30 – July 7 and July 7 – July 14.
The groups will be serving both weeks along with local volunteers in 18 churches from the Guatemala Central District. Thirty-six other youth leaders from Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador have also volunteered their service and covered their own expenses. They will help as translators and in other activities as a part of Project Timothy.
The activities have already begun. Global Mission and Nazarene Youth International are working together to serve the church and community through construction projects, medical clinics, evangelism, Project Nazagol (a soccer outreach), and others projects to share the gospel.
During this time they will celebrate 2 united services in the Nazarene Theological Seminary where General Superintendent Dr. Gustavo Crocker and Field Strategy Coordinator Rev. Leonel de Leon will share the Word of God.
The event is occurring in Guatemala and Costa Rica thanks to an invitation from Mesoamerica NYI leadership to the USA / Canada Region NYI, which they accepted. It represents a tremendous investment. The regional NYI coordinator would like to thank our brothers and sisters for their willingness and love for the work of Christ in the Mesoamerica Region.
