Update – Volcano of Fire, Guatemala
Friday, June 8, a group of volunteers worked hard to do what was required in the Escuintla Church of the Nazarene, which is functioning as a donation center for the victims of the Volcano of Fire eruption.
Thanks to the blessing of God, many churches and districts in Guatemala have united to bring food and clothes to supply the basic needs of those affected. Even churches from other denominations have participated, like the Faithful Word Church from Zone 18 that has brought donations. A group of 25 volunteers from the Escuintla Church of the Nazarene, who have served nearly full time, along with other volunteers, have focused on the important job of organizing and classifying the donations.
So far they have made 331 bags that include personal hygiene items and basic necessities and they hope to continue working to make more.
They also held a children’s event with the Simon Bergano y Villegas shelter along with the North Central Area leaders, and Guatemala Central District NMI and NYI. They shared Bible stories, songs and other activities with the children. They plan to hand out the supplies on Saturday morning.
Continue in prayer for Guatemala and for all of those suffering in the Volcano of Fire tragedy.
