The first regional training event for Mesoamerica NYI communicators was May 12-14 in the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Guatemala. Thirty-two youth from Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Mexico attended the event focused on giving useful tools to share the message of salvation through different means of communication.
The coordinator for World Mission Broadcast, Brian Utter, was the primary speaker. He shared about the importance of pre-production and investigation for radio programs, and also the importance of clearly defining the target audience. Ernesto and Jenny Cartagena, well-recognized radio personalities in El Salvador, shared about uses of radio and techniques of radio broadcast. They also addressed using social media and innovative tools to share the gospel with adolescents and youth in the Mesoamerica Region.
The NYI communications coordinator, Laura Campos, said, “The world is changing and innovating constantly. As children of God, we must train ourselves in order to offer our youth a real gospel that they can share and transmit with those who are not believers.”
