Work & Witness in the Dominican Republic was blessed to receive a team from Whitehorse Church of the Nazarene in Yukon, Canada from March 21-29, 2017. This group worked on the construction of Los Alcarrizos I Church of the Nazarene parsonage and child development center (CDC), located in the central Nazarene district. The purpose of the project is to create more space for the CDC to be able to work with up to 300 at-risk children in the community. Together with local workers and many volunteers, the team worked hard to prepare the columns and the rebar to pour the roof for the second floor of the project.
In addition to construction work, the team was able to be involved in other activities in the community as well, including children’s activities with the kids from the CDC, a showing of a Christian movie in the street near the church, and sharing testimonies and music in two different church services.
DR Work & Witness is very thankful for our brothers and sisters from the Yukon who worked so hard to support the vision of Los Alcarrizos I church by helping to create space so that many more children in the community may be reached and that their lives may be transformed for God’s glory. We are thankful for the love they showed, the encouragement they shared, and the relationships that were built during their time in DR. Glory to God!
