On May 6th, a team arrived from Pennsville Church of the Nazarene in Pennsville, New Jersey for a week-long stay. After spending the night at the Work and Witness house in Santo Domingo, the team headed to Neyba, located in the south Nazarene district, where they worked and ministered for most of their stay. The team worked at Villa Jaragua Church of the Nazarene and Child Development Center.
Throughout the week, the team worked on the construction of the project. They helped construct part of the roof and plaster the walls on the upper floor of the project.
The team also had the opportunity to be involved in several outreach activities in the area. On Friday, May 8th, the team attended a church service at Villa Jaragua’s daughter church in Dos Rios. On Saturday and Sunday, the team attended services in Villa Jaragua. At each service, they participated by preaching and sharing testimonies. On Sunday afternoon, the team competed in a baseball game against youth from the church.
Almost each day, a part of the group was involved in working with the children in the compassion project. The team led activities including singing, Bible stories, and crafts. It was a great blessing for the team to be able to share with the children in the project.
One woman from the team was a professional hairdresser and provided free haircuts for children in the project. The team also provided several donations of clothing and tennis shoes for the kids.
On Monday, May 11th, the group traveled back to Santo Domingo. Tuesday, May 12th, the group had the opportunity to bless another family by helping them paint their home. They also helped paint at the Work and Witness house.
We thank God for this team from Pennsville Church of the Nazarene and their willingness to support and serve the project in Neyba as well as in Santo Domingo!
