“Making Christlike disciples in the nations” is the mission of the worldwide Church of the Nazarene. A small group in one of the smallest countries in the Mesoamerica Region knows that this mission was born in the heart of God and it is working to fulfill it.
The Costa Rica Central District evangelism ministry, led by Pastor Leyla Ramirez, in association with the Pandora clinic (Social Security) recently visited six communities of the Star Valley Tayni Zone, an indigenous areas of the country, in order to fill both physical and spiritual needs.
A survey to update data on the population was conducted. Also, vaccinations, and comprehensive health education were provided. The Jesus film was also presented. The result of this hard work, along with the Lord’s help through His Holy Spirit, was amazing. We welcomed 38 people who received the Lord Jesus in their hearts to the Nazarene family, 8 were baptized.
A new evangelistic site was opened in the “Bella Vista” community. The group also got together with 4 mission type churches that began the process of joining with the Church of the Nazarene. They have an average of 120 people under the leadership of Brother Paul. We ask for your prayers for these communities. Nazarene educators taught distance education courses to leaders of these missions. Enthusiasm and love for the church was so great that soon an educational center in one of these communities will open. It is planned that by August they will be formally integrated into our denomination during an assembly.
Glory to God for what He is doing in Costa Rica! Keep praying for the evangelism ministry in this district, their leader, Rev. Leyla Ramirez and the new believers.
