Twenty-six Leaders representing the seven local churches on the Antigua Zone of the Leeward/ Virgin Islands District of the Church of the Nazarene recently completed training as facilitators of the Discipleship Evangelism programme. Facilitated by Rev. Dexter Daly from Trinidad & Tobago, the Trainers’ Workshop on Saturday 13 September 2014 was preceded by three days of introductory training attended by more than seventy members from the various Churches.
Leaders who attended the Training described it as “challenging”, “life changing” and “truly important if one was to obey the Great Commission of our Lord”. Coordinator of the event, English Field Evangelism Director and District Evangelism Board Chair, Rev. Christopher Weekes, said he was extremely happy with the support and participation of the Churches and expressed the hope that the training would be put to good use. Rev. Weekes opined that “intentional discipleship was a critical ingredient of any healthy Church and provided the foundation for real growth, numerically and spiritually”.

Leeward Virgin Islands District Superintendent and host church Pastor, Reverend Dr. Kenneth Sharpe described the training as “timely and relevant”, since Churches were gearing up for a week of Crusades with Dr. Samuel Vassel”. Dr. Sharpe expressed the desire to see the training impact the results individual churches achieved in their “Church Health” statistics.
